New Born Baby

New born baby, or new born babies if you’ve been blessed with twins, triplets or even quads!

They don’t like to be fussed with & quite frankly hate being naked.

All a new born baby wants is to be warm, comfy, full and near mummy and daddy.

And it’s these facts that form the basis of my new born photography sessions.

In my photography you’ll notice that the baby is almost always dressed and I don’t pose them.

It’s hugely different from the norm in new born photography and because of that I thought it would be worth explaining why I chose to break from the norm.

New Born Babies Hate Being Naked

I’ve never met a new born baby that likes it.

Some will tolerate it if there room is warm enough, they’re very asleep, or are wrapped up.

But the crux is that it often makes them very sad.

The reason is that new borns lose heat from their bodies 4x faster than adults*.

So as soon as they are undressed their temperature plummets.

Plus, because they can’t regulate their own body temperature.

It takes them longer to warm up again after being redressed.

Remembering Your New Born as they Truly are

New borns are so incredibly individual and I’m a firm believer that you can see our personalities from that very first day.

Some new babies like to sleep on their backs with arms outstretched, some prefer their sides, some just want to be on their fronts and despite laying them on their backs you’ll return every time to find them snuggled up on their tummies.

I feel it’s important to capture all of these unique details and incredible memories in your photos.

To photograph how your new born baby moves, from their legs, to their arms and their beautiful expressions.

If your baby was asleep for the whole session, or in set poses then I wouldn’t be able to capture all of these details that show your new babies personality.

So that’s why for my new born photography I chose to have babies dressed, usually in a simple white vest that will never go out of fashion and is what you’ll remember seeing them in everyday. And why I chose to photograph new babies naturally.

Simple, natural, beautiful new born photography.
