Family Photographer St Albans

So you’ve been searching “family photographer St Albans” and trawling through no end of websites.

I bet you didn’t realise how many options there were and how confusing it can all be.

Plus when you have a family you don’t have the time to spend hours looking through all of the websites that appear under ‘family photographer St Albans”.

And that is exactly why I thought I’d pull together this mini how to guide on picking the right family photographer for you.

First we’ll start with the style of family photography you may be after.

Family Photography Style

Studio –

This is as it says on the tin, you visit the photographers studio. For younger children it can be best to find someone with a home studio (which is what I have) as it’s a more relaxed environment and is less likely to scare them.

Studio photography has a more simplistic look that means your family is the focus and studio photographers tend to either specialise in posed family photography, or natural family photography.

Lifestyle –

This is when the photographer comes to your house / a place of your choosing and photographs your family there.

I love the fact that they capture your life as it is and in a place your while family is most at ease.

But this style may not be for everyone for example I’d worry about cleaning the house before the shoot and wanting everything to be spotless, plus you may prefer a more simplistic look.

There’s also the fact that not every house is lucky enough to have lots of lovely light and a lack of light can make family lifestyle photoshoots tricky.

Outdoor –

I 100000% recommend outdoor family photoshoots when you have older children. It’s where you’ll truly be able to capture their personalities.

Letting them run free and have fun is awesome to see and even better to photograph.

My boys are 2 and 4 years old and I only ever photograph them outside.

The only challenge is the weather, however I’m of the opinion that if it’s windy fly a kit, if it’s cold wrap up and snuggle and if it’s rainy jump in puddles. Whatever the weather gives you on the day can create stunning family photos.

So those are the 3 main styles of family photography and once you know which you prefer it will make finding your “family photographer St Albans” so much easier.

I’ve included some examples below of the style of family photography that I specialise in.

I call it natural studio photography and it’s basically capturing your family in a totally natural, authentic way, but in the comfort of a studio.
